Each of our four positions taught us valuable lessons about the dynamics of working closely with employers and adapting to varying expectations. From managing large estates to working in smaller family homes, the highs of working with respectful employers were only matched by the lows of facing burnout and being dismissed.

As the live-in under-butler/cook, this position meant wearing white gloves and suits. It required professionalism, with a focus on protocol and standards. Attention to detail was crucial in this very formal traditional household, and we learned about silver service, even though we didn't enjoy it much. Read more here

Getting fired from our last job

This job was bittersweet, as our time there ended under challenging circumstances. We went from domestic couple to estate manager and cook/housekeeper to coerced carers.
